More than 1 billion people every month check out podcasts on YouTube.

YouTube announced a big milestone today: over 1 billion monthly active podcast users.

When it comes to podcasts, more and more creators are turning to YouTube to upload videos that complement their audio recordings, giving viewers a new view into their favorite audio content. And these are increasingly popular. A medium that began as audio-only has evolved to mean something entirely different.

In the U.S., YouTube, including YouTube Music, is the most frequently used service for listening to podcasts, and people also head to YouTube first to discover new podcasts to listen to. Plus, people listen on all sorts of devices: Last year, viewers watched over 400 million hours of podcasts monthly on living room devices.
